Area carpets…are they a challenge?

There are a lot of things to consider in choosing an area carpet --- Persian or Tribal, real or fake, pattern or solid, colour or neutral, texture, ready-made or custom, trend or classic, statement or not, and of course size. Depending on the style you want to achieve in the space, you first have to consider the area you want to cover - the inside or outside of the seating area and size - 4x6, 5x8, 8x10. If those standard sizes don’t work consider custom. Carpets usually comes in 12ft width and today there are so many textures, patterns and materials to choose from, even commercial carpet are looking better . The other benefit to custom is having it bound in different materials like, silk thread binding, canvas and my favorite, faux leather binding are a few ideas.

The tip would be to tape off the size of the carpet you would like to use in the area, leave it for a few days to see if you agree with the size. If you opt for custom, check out the discount, remnants and even carpet where they buy huge stocks to make the size and texture that is ideal for your space. Then have it bound at Carpet Mechanics.

For those wondering …can I put an area carpet on top of wall to wall carpeting? Maybe. If you really have to and the pile of your wall to wall carpeting is short, then I would say go for it.
